Glass King-Quartz Glass Performance Overview

High Temperature Resistance

  • Softening point temperature is approximately 1730°C.
  • Capable of long-term use at temperatures up to 1180°C, with short-term maximum use temperature reaching 1450°C.

Mechanical Properties

  • Density: 2.2 g/cm³.
  • Elastic modulus: 700 × 10³ kg/cm³.
  • Tensile strength: 500 kg/cm³.
  • Vickers hardness: 5.5 - 6.5.
  • Strength peaks at the annealing temperature of 1180°C.

Thermal Properties

  • Thermal expansion coefficient: 5.4 × 10^-7.
  • Incredibly low thermal expansion coefficient, being only 1/12 to 1/20 that of ordinary glass in the range of 0-1000°C.
  • Can withstand extreme temperature changes from 1200 to 15°C.

Chemical Stability

  • Exceptional resistance to acids except for hydrofluoric acid and hot phosphoric acid above 300°C.
  • Resistant to sulfuric acid, nitric acid, hydrochloric acid, aqua regia, neutral salts, carbon, and sulfur at high temperatures.
  • Its chemical stability is 30 times greater than that of acid-resistant ceramics and 150 times greater than nickel-chromium alloys and stainless steel.
  • Unmatched chemical stability at high temperatures.

Electrical Insulation Properties

  • At room temperature, its resistivity is 100 times higher than that of ordinary glass.
  • Minimal dielectric loss across all frequencies.
  • Possesses great electrical insulation strength.

Optical Performance

  • Excellent light transmittance across the ultraviolet to infrared spectrum, with visible light transmission rate over 95%.
  • Maximum ultraviolet light transmission can reach more than 85%.

Specific Heat and Thermal Conductivity

  • Average specific heat capacity:
    • 0-100°C: 722 joules/kg·K.
    • 0-500°C: 964 joules/kg·K.
    • 0-900°C: 1052 joules/kg·K.
  • Thermal conductivity:
    • 20°C: 1.38 W/m·K.
    • 200°C: 1.55 W/m·K.
    • 400°C: 1.84 W/m·K.
    • 950°C: 2.68 W/m·K.

The superior properties of quartz glass make it an indispensable material in various industries such as optics, semiconductors, chemicals, and electrical insulation due to its outstanding resistance to high temperatures, corrosion, electrical insulation, and optical transparency.
