In summary, optical quartz glasses, classified as JGS1, JGS2, and JGS3, exhibit exceptional optical properties with high purity, high heat resistance, and strong radiation resistance. They are customizable for various applications requiring superior light transmission and tailored optical characteristics.

JGS1 (Far-Ultraviolet Optical Quartz Glass): Manufactured by fusing synthetic quartz with high-purity hydrogen-oxygen flames, JGS1 contains a relatively high concentration of hydroxyl groups, approximately 2000 ppm. It boasts outstanding ultraviolet transparency, particularly in the shortwave UV region where it surpasses all other glass types. With a transmission rate exceeding 90% at 185 nanometers, this glass has a distinct absorption peak at 2730 nanometers and is free from particle structures. It serves as an excellent optical material within the 185 to 2500 nanometer spectral range.

JGS2 (UV Optical Quartz Glass): Derived from crystal raw materials and refined using a gas process, JGS2 contains tens of ppm of metal impurities and exhibits an absorption peak at 2730 nanometers with a hydroxyl content between 100 to 200 ppm. The glass shows a striated and particulate structure and performs well across the 220 to 2500 nanometer wavelength band.

JGS3 (Infrared Optical Quartz Glass): Produced through vacuum-pressure furnace melting (electric fusion method) using either crystal or high-purity quartz sand, JGS3 contains low levels of metal impurities but possesses tiny bubbles, particulate structure, and striations, with almost no OH content. This type offers high infrared transmission rates, over 85% transmittance, and is suitable for use in the 260 to 3500 nanometer optical spectrum.

Additionally, there exists a full-spectrum optical quartz glass with an application range from 180 to 4000 nanometers, produced via plasma chemical vapor deposition without water and H2, utilizing high-purity SiCl4 as its source material. By incorporating small amounts of TiO2, this glass can block out 220-nanometer UV light, becoming ozone-free quartz glass due to the conversion of atmospheric oxygen into ozone below that wavelength. Adding trace elements like titanium and europium allows filtering of wavelengths below 340 nanometers. This glass can be entirely bubble-free, offering superior UV transparency, especially in the shortwave UV area with a transmission rate of 85% at 185 nanometers. Although it's an excellent optical material in the 185 to 2500 nanometer range, its infrared transmission performance is inferior, notably around 2700 nanometers due to a significant hydroxyl absorption peak.

Overall, transparent quartz glass significantly outperforms ordinary silicate glass in terms of transmission across the entire wavelength spectrum, excelling in the infrared region with higher spectral transmission than regular glass, and showing even greater transmission in the visible and, especially, the shortwave UV regions. Quartz glass also generally reflects about 8% of incident light, more so in the UV zone and less in the IR, resulting in typical light transmittance not exceeding 92%. Its scattering effect is minimal and often negligible. Spectral absorption is closely related to the level of impurities and manufacturing processes, with metal impurities reflected in transmission rates below 200 nanometers, and transition metal ions contributing to absorption around 240 nanometers. The 2730 nanometer absorption peak corresponds to hydroxyl group absorption and is used to calculate hydroxyl-related absorption peaks.

For those seeking custom polished optical quartz glass solutions, these specialized varieties offer unique benefits catering to diverse industries and precise requirements.
